BOB TREVINO LIKE TO is inspired by a real-life friendship that writer/director Tracie Laymon found with a stranger while searching for her father online. Often playing the role of a caretaker for people like her father who should be taking care of her, Lily Trevino longs for family connection after being abandoned by her mother as a child and then suddenly by her father in her twenties. Bob Trevino works long hours alone in a construction company to support his wife Jeanie’s scrapbooking habit. The couple has been through a lot over the past decade, and Bob has tried to put his wife first, to the point of ignoring his own feelings and needs for friendship, meaning, and connection—that is, until he receives an unexpected Facebook message from a stranger. Lily and Bob’s blossoming friendship becomes an important source of connection and healing in their lives. Bob’s small acts of fatherly kindness fill the family void in Lily’s life and hold the power to change her direction forever. Both must learn in their own ways that they are worthy of the extraordinary love that comes through small acts of kindness.
