Story
Nate Busco spent 12 of his 17 years living in his past. Frustrated by bouncing from one foster home to another, he now lives in a car, eats corn husks and uses athletic training as an opportunity to shower. By nightfall, he couldn’t be more different from the school’s confident, boastful personality. Alone, the traumatic memories of his past haunt him. Stan Dean, a popular high school drama teacher, shows up and deals with his own problems. She sees Nate’s hidden talents and need for care and guidance that no other teacher would, and decides to help him. But in a surprising turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of the school and taken away in handcuffs. Not only does Stan follow Nate to the police station and bail, but he agrees to take Nate to his house, despite raised eyebrows from his fellow teachers. Stan is willing to do whatever he can to help his troubled student. But the question is, can we really help anyone if we don’t want to help ourselves?
