Story
Follows Katherine Ravenscroft, a television documentary journalist whose work is based on exposing wrongdoing by long-respected institutions. Gary Oldman was originally supposed to be cast, but he was replaced by Kevin Kline. Jonathon uses the same lens in several episodes.
The reviews here are much more entertaining than the show, lol
Such a lens would not be able to focus on close objects, for example selfies with Sasha or in the bedroom with Katrina. How did Alfonso Cuarón manage to make such a terrible show? Right from the start, the two young people on the train are irritating in the first scene, and from there the mediocre acting continues.
The narration is unnatural and has a strangely inconsistent audio quality
Even Kevin Kline, who usually can do no wrong in my eyes, seems to call in. The actors seem to have no idea how to portray their characters. I assume the narration is lifted directly from the book, but that doesn’t necessarily make sense in the context of the TV show.
It’s all a bit odd
At times, for example, the narration focuses on Cate Blanchett’s character over her own experiences, which is just odd. Kodi Smits-McPhee throws around like a wet rag. Sacha Baron Cohen seems out of place and becomes oddly hysterical at times.
