Writer Gary Doberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal in the Salem’s Lot remake is to make vampires scary again
Story
The author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem-Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, but discovers that the townspeople are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. He wants to move away from the sexier, more romantic undead that have flooded pop culture for most of the last quarter-century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight to The Vampire Diaries. When Ben reads old newspapers on microfilm at the library, the headline reads “Local Couple Victimized by DUI.” The newspaper was supposedly printed in 1956, when the term “DUI” was not yet in use. It was a good movie
Sundown, by Gordon Lightfoot, provided to Warner Records by arrangement with Warner Music Group Film & TV Licensing. In fact, it should be an 8-10 hour miniseries. Then the characters could be explored better. We would be more interested in the history and legends.
Was it perfect?
It seems like the actors did a good job with what they were given. All the main characters did a good job of conveying their character motivation, given the brevity of the movie. The heroes of the story are good. I liked the teacher, as well as the two main characters and a little boy who showed no fear.
The effects were well done
No. But. Although they should have waited for the big discovery until the end of the story. Otherwise.
I had to make a miniseries
