In New York City, Manhattan, these are a series of numbered “Avenues” which are crisscrossed by smaller numbered streets. I watched it out of curiosity, without much expectation, I was just surprised to see Stallone in a TV series. You feel the tension in the scenes, it’s also pretty realistic as far as the plot would go. I wouldn’t say it’s humorous, but there are some funny scenes that follow Dwight (Stallone) being released from a 25-year prison sentence and not fully integrated into the current world; so I assume the sudden transition will cause some interesting hiccups for him, hence us.
I’m glad someone told him how to use Uber, it was funny while it lasted
It’s a pretty clever script, but not in a witty way, which is a good thing. Stallone is very much represented, of course, but the rest of the cast seems pretty good. The show literally feels like you took gangsters written for a movie from the early 90s and just threw them in 2022, creating a good mix of humor and violence. I thought it was going to be a throwaway show like some of the newer Stallion movies are; mostly just relying on his name and performances, but Taylor Sheridan does a good job here of writing a performance worthy of Stallone.
I went in with no high expectations
I think it’s going to be fun to watch the macho Stallone build a criminal empire from scratch in the middle of nowhere of Tulsa. I love how it feels sometimes in this western setting, still being a mafia. I think the show could go under the radar and then people will ask later how they never caught it before because I haven’t seen that much Paramount advertising. , but if the premiere is anything like this, it could be really fun to watch.
If it continues, great, if it improves, that’ll be fantastic
I’ll add a rating after a few episodes are out and update if anything changes drastically in the show. Check out our recap of "Yellowstone" Season 5, Part 2, "Squid Game" Season 2, and other most anticipated new and returning series coming to TV and streaming.
