Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of the book “Wool” – the book is 82 chapters long
Story
Men and women live in a giant silo underground with various regulations that they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic, crumbling world above ground. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what sci-fi is all about.
Spinning this way neither pushes nor pulls air
The floor fans in several episodes spin in the wrong direction, with respect to the orientation of the blades. Featured on WatchMojo: Top 10 TV Shows of 2023 You Should Binge-Watch (2023).
And when that status quo that preserves order is challenged, enforcement measures and punishment take hold
It’s an interesting take on the story of the underground bunker, of a people surviving underground for so long that a civilization arose within it, with traditions, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies that have their roots in events that have been forgotten, and a status quo social structure is founded. A power structure forms that creates a stratified population, both figuratively and literally, from the top to the bottom of the silo.
Good acting from Oyelowo, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton
That’s the premise, and while it’s not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough novelty here and it seems well-executed for a TV series. (But as you can see from the show’s poster, they’re guest stars who will make way for the regular cast, with Rebecca Ferguson as the lead.) The show appears to be decent enough, with good production values.
There are elaborate sets and good computer special effects to provide a believable atmosphere
While a suspicious mind will pick up on some obvious conspiracies at first, there are mysteries that are uncovered that will keep me watching.
